
Healthy Foods for Healthy Kids’ mission is to inspire healthier lives by providing youth with joyful school gardening experiences. Its vision is a vegetable garden in every school in Delaware. The program grows cool-weather, fast-growing crops during the school year and its “seed-to-cafeteria table” program provides students the opportunity to eat and enjoy their harvested vegetables in the lunchroom cafeteria. To date, HFHK serves 52 schools (60% comprising Title I schools) with a total yield of 57,000 pounds of produce harvested – and consumed – by Delaware’s children since 2005!
