Presenter: Rev. Paula Maiorano
Service Description:
Ours is a time of astonishing power and unsettling change in which our tools can compose music, mimic conversation, sort résumés, recommend prison sentences, target communities with misinformation, and help decide who gets care, credit, or attention. It his new encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas addressed to Catholics, Christians, and all people of goodwill Pope Leo XIV asks humanity to choose what kind of world we are building: a new Tower of Babel organized around power, uniformity, and control, or a shared community grounded in dignity, justice, and the common good. The encyclical’s insistence that technology must serve human dignity, work, truth, freedom, and peace, pertains to the world of humanity.
