Presenter: Rev. Ayliah Cannon
Service Description:
Today we celebrate Fathers Day! And we celebrate LGBTQIA Pride! When Joseph bestowed a coat of many colors on Jacob, what he was really bestowing was a spiritual power that none could take away. When Gilbert Baker fathered the Rainbow Pride in 1978, he had a vision of many people with different identities all coming together in unity and strength. He saw different marginalized communities united under one "coat of many colors." The number of stripes in color got smaller for several years, then it blossomed with many new variations, but it still represented the spiritual power of coming together in kinship and celebration as one unified community. Throughout history, many Unitarian Universalist fathers have passed on spiritual power to their children. Let us consider to whom we shall pass our Rainbow Flag of power to.
