June UUDAN Meeting: Voting Rights
Delaware currently lags far behind most other states when it comes to voting rights. From preventing all citizens from voting early via mail-in or in-person ballots, to forcing voters to register to vote far in advance of election day, to not allowing all returning citizens to cast ballots after they finish serving felony sentences, Delaware’s voting rights laws are frighteningly out of date and harmful to marginalized communities. Andrew Bernstein of the ACLU of Delaware will discuss current and planned future efforts to amend Delaware’s constitution and expand voting access to tens of thousands of voters.
