Environmental Justice Workshop

Saturday, September 30, 2017, at UUFN from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm

The UUFN Social Justice Committee would like to invite you to join us for this inaugural event! The Delaware Sierra Club will be hosting an environmental justice (EJ) workshop just weeks before the first Delaware Solutions Forum (hosted in conjunction with the Delaware Concerned Residents for Environmental JusticeComing Clean, and the the Environmental Justice & Health Alliance for Chemical Policy Reform) which will be centered around community solutions to environmental injustices.

We want all attendees to feel comfortable with the topics of environmental justice and racism. We want to empower you to build principled and transformative relationships. This is a safe space to ask questions you may not have felt comfortable asking in the past and to engage in meaningful conversations.

Come hear Dr. Louis McDuffy, an attendee of the First National People of Color Environmental Leadership Summit, speak about the history and principles of EJ nationally and locally. You will also have the pleasure of hearing from Michele Roberts, the Co-Coordinator of the Environmental Justice Health Alliance and engaging in empowering discussions.

***Lunch will be provided.

All participants will be expected to read and adhere to the Jemez Principles for Democratic Organizing and the Principles of Environmental Justice. Both short documents are available for free online and will be emailed to participants in advance.
