Dress is casual. Jeans are fine. Some dress more formally. In the summer, shorts are often worn. Our “come as you are” atmosphere extends beyond clothing. You are welcome whatever your prior religious affiliation, if any.
Parking
Parking is available in the church lot and on Willa Road. We have handicap spaces near the main entrance, and our building is wheelchair accessible.
When You Arrive
Greeters will welcome you as you enter the building. Most of our members wear nametags. We have nametags available for you to use if you wish. The greeters will be glad to help you find your way around the building.
Childcare and Religious Education for Children
During the worship service we provide nursery childcare and religious education classes for children and teens. Children may also attend the service with their family.
The Worship Service
As you enter our worship space, pick up a hymnal and order of service. Sit wherever you are comfortable. Our service begins at 10 AM and lasts about an hour. While the format varies from week to week, there are commonalities in all services.
The service generally begins with the sounding of a gong, followed by words of welcome and brief announcements. We invite visitors to introduce themselves, but don’t feel obligated to do so.
The service includes the lighting of a chalice (the primary symbol of Unitarian Universalism), accompanied by readings drawing from a wide range of religious and humanist sources. The rainbow ribbon around our Chalice represents our ongoing process to become a more Welcoming Congregation for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people. Music, including congregational singing, choir anthems and performances by guest musicians, is an important part of our services as well.
Most weeks, some people light candles and share their joys and concerns. You are also welcome to do so. This is a time of meditation and prayer.
Each service includes a sermon or reflection by our minister, a member of the congregation or a guest speaker.
Although an offering is collected during the service, a financial contribution is not expected from our visitors. Your gift to us is your presence.
After the Service
Please stop by our Newcomer’s Table at the rear of our worship space. A member will be happy to provide you with more information about Unitarian Universalism and our Fellowship. Then join us for coffee, tea and conversation.
We look forward to your visit!
