“ROOTS AND SHOOTS”the fifth and sixth grade class

Our Fifth and Sixth grade program is a chapter of Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots program. The program builds on the legacy and vision of Dr. Jane Goodall to place the power and resources for creating practical solutions to big challenges in the hands of the young people.

This is a unique program where our fifth and sixth grade children are encouraged to develop their leadership skills as well as their awareness of the world around them. Children are encouraged to use technology to map out community needs inorder to find the places where a campaign or service project can help people, animals, or the environment. Then, they take action.

This class produces and performs the annual UUFN Holiday Pageant in December.

From organizing refugee bookbags to help Syrian families, to clearing and creating a trail on the church property, to organizing their annual Middle Eastern Banquet to raise funds and awareness for girls education in Pakistan and Afghanistan, this amazing group is well on their way to becoming adults who make an impact on the world.
