From Richard Field:

Invitation to a daytime book discussion: 21 September 2017, 1:30 – 3:00 PM Olympia Brown

A number of members have indicated an interest in having a daytime, afternoon, book discussion group. An initial meeting date and time have been established to organize, consider ongoing plans, and undertake a discussion of our first book which is Timothy Synder’s important little book On Tyranny. Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century.

I find this book can be understood as a religious book because of the guidance it gives to us as individuals on how to act in these troubled times.

Snider says
“Life is political, not because the world cares about how you feel, but because the world reacts to what you do. … In the politics of the every day our words and gestures, or their absence, count very much.”

I cannot imagine a clearer statement of the role of liberal religion in guiding behavior in modern life.
